For schools

Today’s world demands people who are not only excellent at academics but are all rounded individuals, can communicate well, are aware of global issues, and can make a personal difference to the world with innovative and creative thought processes. It is not academic excellence but lateral thinking and alternative solutions that are the keystones of success.

 

As I watch the youngsters of today I find that as technology advances they are becoming immune to their environment. Insensitive to genuine problems of the have-nots, lackadaisical about gaining true learning or knowledge. We grew up hearing stories of our ancestors albeit unreal but they added to the fabric of our identity and found roots in our country. A pride in our heritage is essential to look ahead and respect our present. The freedom we enjoy is due to the selfless sacrifice of our freedom fighters. Maybe it is this apathy which prompts them to abuse this essential ingredient of our existence – freedom and liberty.

 

 

We introduce the “Gurukul” Club.

Schools are temples where the seeds of consciousness are planted in impressionable minds. We wish to collaborate with schools in this venture of becoming aware.

 

We believe that it is important to start the discourse on culture and heritage at a young age and hence we bring to you another endeavour targeted towards generating appreciation for Kolkata’s diverse heritage amongst school-going children.

This is aimed at creating a multi-level awareness according to age, by involving students in fun activities that will sustain interest. Learning will be indirect but awareness has to be a long term initiative for the sensibility to be ingrained permanently.

  • Lifestyle choices – food, travel, living, local, co-habitation. Daylight saving – why?
  • Professions
  • Communities – Common sense – justice, morality, right- wrong, inclusion – examples.
  • Medicine – holistic treatment. Eating regimen, exercise. Yoga which emulates nature (Bio Mimicry)
  • Qissaa is a textile store stressing on the cause of the weavers, their plight and the textile industry which is the backbone of employment, growth and a human intensive initiative. We get attracted to the glitzy but if we adopt handlooms we will actually save a weaver. Abstruse concepts for school going kids but if one doesn’t start young we may lose the race. My pet proect is a hand spinning workshop to acquaint them with local sustainable Khadi. A brilliant brain child of Gandhi
