Kati from Switzerland, if you believe in rebirth is definitely an Indian princess reborn. She was also a Hindu. An enigmatic week spent in her Company as we hopscotched across Bengal soaking in sights, sounds, artisans weavers. Nothing was enough. Ye dil maange more and Kati on her 12th trip to India was mesmerized yet again. An unusual person who did not see dirt, grime squalor. She did not mind botched up schedules. She was a woman in love.

Franz back home and here all she saw she loved ardently. The first two days we spent in Calcutta, the usual and unusual. We visited designers, boutiques, shops.  The Sabyasachi store took her breath away and she stood transfixed on one shelf. The others woefully missed. We both wished we were princesses to don the gorgeous attire.

Later in the day we were lost in a shop selling zari laces, sequins, buttons et al. Not for Switzerland as much as she wants she can’t wear her India love on her sleeve. Buy and keep away for another time. Yes!

A fun two days shopping with her.

On to a tour of the Districts, to savour the temples and weaving artistry in Kalna, Burdwan, Katna, Murshidabad.
