The Continental Hotel was set up by the Boscolo Brothers on July 14th, 1895.The property was advertised in the Statesman ad  ”  in every way suited to the requirements of a First Class Hotel where they will continue to cater to the  public as before under the style and title of Hotel Continental.”This was also published as the promoters owned The Bellvue Hotel at Dharamtolla Street,which they closed earlier and transferred the business to their new property.The  Bellevue Hotel went through a renovation snd was converted into residences for families and bachelors.

In 1904 ,the Brothers decided to to extend and alter The Continental with the idea “to the improvement of new private tiffin rooms”  and also added an  entrance from 10 Chowringhee. By now they owned the plots of 9 to 12 Chowringhee. The newly renivated property also offered Guest Nights on Wednesdays and Saturdays when an  Italian orchestra played during dinner.The Hotel also had a branch at 3 Royd Street.
